Public Encouraged To Comment in Joint Land Use Study

Residents who live around Sheppard Air Force Base still have an opportunity to share their thoughts on how the relationship with the military installation can be improved.
Residents who live around Sheppard Air Force Base still have an opportunity to share their thoughts on how the relationship with the military installation can be improved.

On Thursday evening, Texoma leaders hosted their third and final Joint Land Use Study, JLUS, Public Forum.

Wichita Falls Assistant City Manager Kevin Hugman says the goal of the study is to look at the issues that impact Sheppard and the surrounding communities.

Hugman says the study's recommendations will accommodate for new economic development, protect public health and safety, and protect current and future missions of Sheppard and Fredrick Regional Airports.

He says the community's comments are important because they are in the final stages of preparing a report and they encourage everyone to continue submitting comments.

"There may be things that the public sees. We want them to look at the report and make sure that we haven't missed something or that there may be some other ideas that they have or maybe something that they think is not as important," Hugman says.

The public comment period closes on March 17.

If you would like comment, you can do so by mailing them to Kevin Hugman at 1300 7th Street, Room #400. P.O. Box 1431. Wichita Falls, TX 76307 or by email at kevin.hugman@wichitafallstx.gov.
