Public Hearings Set for Proposed Wichita County Budget

Wichita County commissioners have done most of the work to get the next county budget ready. Now they are waiting for public input before giving it the final stamp of approval. Because of an increase in tax revenue from higher property values, the county will have a little more revenue even with no tax rate hike.

In fact, the tax rate should decline a little bit so commissioners will not be posting a notice of a tax rate hike. Commissioners did not put in any across-the-board pay raises for this budget.

Before the commissioners can approve the proposed budget, they must have two public hearings for taxpayers. The first is set for August 11 at 6 pm and the second is on August 18 at 10 am.
