Punxsutawney Phil Predicts 6 More Weeks

Phil left his burrow early this morning at Gobblers Knob in Punxsutawney to look for his shadow.
He saw it, and now there will be six more weeks of winter.

This is the 126th year for Phil, the world famous groundhog made his annual prediction in front of nearly 20,000 people this morning.
Phil has seen his shadow 99 times since 1886, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club's inner circle, which runs the event.
Regardless of his prediction, many people feel like winter has not even started with mild temperatures in most states.
The groundhog day celebration started with a German superstition that believes if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on February second, the christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will last another six weeks.
If it doesn't see its shadow spring will come early.
