It's only been a few months since two separate accidents claimed the lives of 11 year old Jared Macias and 17 year old Shon Blair.

The family of 17 year old Shon Blair raised a Donate Life flag at MSU's D.L. Ligon Coliseum to help show the importance of becoming an organ donor.

In January, Shon died from injuries suffered during a vehicle crash on Kell West in Wichita Falls.

"It's sad we lost our son but we're also proud of the fact that he was able to help so many people.  They got eight vital organs and it saved seven lives.  His eyes were given to a five year old boy so now a five year old boy can now see his family, says Vicky Blair, Shon's mother.

Shon's family isn't the only one raising awareness about organ donations.

Jessica Mohan provided information to during a Donor Registration drive at United Regional. Her brother, 11 year old Jared Macias, died in the hospital last July after a pickup struck a horse he and a friend were riding on McFall Road. Jessica now works at United Regional and says thinking about her little brother doesn't bring just sadness anymore.

"I was very proud to say my parents were able to make the decision to save lives by choosing to donate his organs and he did save four lives with those organs," Mohan says.

Now, the families of both young organ donors are getting the word out this month, which is National Donate Life Month, for you to register and pay life forward.

During Tuesday's registration drive at United Regional coordinators say they spoke with 30 people. It continues Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in United Regional lunch room and also next Tuesday and Wednesday at the same times and locations.
