Repairs ongoing at Kell House

Work continues on the Kell House in Wichita Falls, as crews try to restore the historic building back to its original grandeur.
Kell House Curator Stacie Flood said they're in the middle of a three phase restoration process.

As part of the first phase, crews have already made repairs to the house's foundation, but will need to do more.

The second phase will include replacing the columns on the front of the house, adding a new coat of paint, and other exterior fixes.

"The house is over 100 years old," said Flood, "and it's such and important part of Wichita falls history, we want to make sure it's here for another 100 years."

Tours of the Kell House are still being offered, but you're asked to call first to make sure the house is open.

Flood said they had to cancel the annual 4th of July celebration because of safety concerns with the foundation work.

This year's Santa House event is still scheduled to start in November.
