River Oaks Hosts Last Rib Cook-Off at Current Facility

River Oaks Care Center hosted their 17th annual rib cook-off today.
If you saw smoke coming from a Wichita Falls care facility today, it wasn't cause for concern because smokers were fired up for an annual rib cook off.

The sound was sweet, but the food was even sweeter at River Oaks Care Center today.

They hosted their 17th annual rib cook off this afternoon.

The facility has been open at their location in the 100 block of Bailey for 50 years and this was the last cook-off at the current location.

That's because River Oaks and Monterey Care Center are merging into Advanced Rehabilitation and Healthcare, a new building that's being constructed off Kemp Blvd.

Mark Koch, business development specialist, says, "It's going to be state-of-the-art. We're going to have private and semi-private rooms. Rehabilitation is going to be included. We're going to have a huge, over 3,000 square foot rehabilitation gym."

Officials hope the new facility is up and running in the first few months of next year.
