Tuesday Wichita Falls councilors voted to initiate preliminary design work to expand Riverside Cemetery to Cliff street.

The city already owns most of the property on the street.

The cemetery has not been able to sell plots at Riverside in many years and right now it is unclear how many extra plots could fit on Cliff street.

“That will be their challenge, it will be several thousand we know for sure but it will feature other cemetery features that will consider other opportunities, like cremations,” says Director of Parks and Recreation, Jack Murphy.

The basic design and plan is expected to cost around $42,000. The plan is expected to be finished within 3 to 4 months.
