Although roads are better than they were Monday morning, TxDOT officials say it's still important to drive carefully as condition have varied throughout North Texas.

Adele Lewis with TxDOT says with spotty ice conditions,  you never know what you may run into because conditions are always changing.

TxDot crews starting monitoring conditions at midnight and putting down materials to help clear the roads.

Monday afternoon, many areas were cleared enough to begin pre-treating for freezing rain and snow that could be coming Monday night and continue Tuesday morning.

TxDOT crews will continue to work in 12 hour shifts until the winter weather has passed. Lewis says although having multiple days of tough conditions, crews are trained to push through.

“When they are plowing, that's a long haul. 12 hours in that seat of a snow plow, it is a tough job for them and they are quite tired but they are used to this and they know that they have to so this when they come to work for us. So there's no surprise for the men and woman that work around the clock,” says Lewis.

Wichita Falls Police Department says the ice Monday morning caused 15 wrecks, 6 with injury reports and 9 minor accidents.

And the Department of Public Safety says they had 64 accident reports in spread between Wichita, Archer, Clay, Montague and Wise counties.
