Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign Underway

Salvation Army volunteers are now ringing in donations.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, Christmas is only 39 days away, but a familiar sound of the holiday season actually started ringing today around Wichita Falls.
The Salvation Army's annual bell ringing campaign kicked off today.
Volunteers began ringing in donations for the non-profit organization at Market Street, along with seven other Wichita Falls businesses.
Although it may seem early to hear this traditional sound of the season, coordinators say it's actually right on time.

"With Thanksgiving falling where it is does, the last week of the month, we needed to come out this week.  The difference in money, what we raised last year and this year, really is going to be affected by Thanksgiving and the more money we raise, the more people we help," says Sgt. David Swyers, commander of the Salvation Army.

Bell ringers will be at 22 area businesses the day after Thanksgiving and mark your calendar for December 7th, when KFDXers will be out at Market Street ringing in donations.
The Salvation Army is still searching for volunteer bell ringers.
If you would like to help call the organization at 940-322-9822.
