The sentencing phase begins for the U.S. Army Major found guilty of opening fire on unarmed troops at Fort Hood.
Major Nidal Hasan was found guilty Friday of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder. Texoma soldier J.D. Hunt was among those killed in the 2009 attack.
Hasan never denied he was the shooter responsible for opening fire on troops awaiting deployment overseas. The primary question in the trial has been whether Hasan would receive the death penalty.
