Seymour Opens New FM road

Five years after the four lane divided HWY 277 bypass opened around Seymour, a new road extension there is giving people something else to cheer about.

A small parade line was the first group to go down the new FM 422 Wednesday in town, before a ribbon cutting ceremony with state and local officials.

That larger route connects the bypass east of town to Main Street that runs through town.

The $3.3 million project will make for safer travel with a wider curb and glittered roads, and the city hopes to see more traffic through its community too.

Well we hope a lot of businesses locate on the re-route and I think they will, we've made contacts on that. Hopefully this is just another thing we have to complete in order to make that happen,” said John Studer, Seymour City Administrator.

The road still needs some final touches before it opens to the public. That's expected later this month.
