Sheppard Air Force Base Opens Disc Golf Course

Sheppard Air Force Base now has a new disc golf course for airmen and their families.
Sheppard Air Force Base has a new activity for airmen and their families.

The official ribbon cutting for a new disc golf course at the Wind Creek Park on base took place Monday morning. A change in Department of Defense policy forced the closure of the golf course back in June.

Sheppard partnered up with the Wichita Falls Disc Golf Association to make the course possible. Organizers say this shows the constant support that Sheppard sees from the Wichita Falls community.

"We wanted to leverage the community support from the local club, and they came on board to help us design and to lay out the initial installation plan for the new disc golf course, so it was a great opportunity for us to work with the community," Lt. Col. Joseph Chargualaf says.

Lt. Col Chargualaf says disc golf is becoming more popular, which is why they decided to bring it on base. He says families on base say they are very excited about getting out on the course.
