Pride in the Falls kicked off a new campaign Friday and Tuesday they held a meeting to explain it to local businesses.

Shop Falls First is a push to keep money local by shopping at local businesses instead of chain stores.

The initiative gives local businesses a chance to register with pride in the falls and have them help with their business awareness.

Shop falls first plans to focus on first educating MSU students and Sheppard Air Force Base on places to shop local since most students and Air Force members spend only a few years in Wichita Falls and may not know about local businesses.

“Having a strong local economy is really important to getting new businesses in town, which  I know everyone has on the brain, economic development is very important to our city so it's kind of the perfect way to accomplish a lot of goals,” says Pride in the Falls Assistant Marketing Director,  Jessica King.

To find a list of Shop Falls First businesses or if you want to register your business you can visit their Facebook page.
