Some Texoma Counties See Slight Unemployment Rate Increases

The unemployment rate in Wichita Falls and most of Texoma increased slightly in January compared to December.
The unemployment rate in Wichita Falls and most of Texoma increased slightly in January compared to December.

The January report released Friday by the Texas Work Force Commission shows the rate for the Wichita Falls metro area of Wichita, Clay, and Archer Counties rose to 5.4% from 5.2% in December.

It compares to a rate of 6.5% a year ago. The city rate rose three tenths to 5.7% from January, but is more than 1 percent lower than a year ago.

The lowest rate in the area was Jack County at 3.4%. Wichita County had the highest rate but is down more than a percent from a year ago.
