Sports Spotlight, July 3rd, 2013: Trinity Davis

When you see her play basketball, you can tell Trinity Davis is an athlete.
When you see her play basketball, you can tell Trinity Davis is an athlete. She has a soft jumper and can slice through the lane. But what you might not know, is that in 2011 the Burk rising senior was a stars and stripes athlete of the week, representing Yokota Japan. Davis was actually born on an air force base there. Its where she has spent much of her life, and where she grew up playing basketball. "it's fun because you see how they play the game and you learn things from them. Then you learn how Americans play the game and you put it all together."
Trinity's mom, Tina Davis...A Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force, has been there every step of the way. From japan, to Germany, to the U.S. "It's been a great experience to see her grow. She started playing basketball when she was three years old. So I've seen her grow all the way from being three years old to a senior in high school. "
But when Tina Davis was deployed to Iraq for five months when her daughter was in eighth grade she had to miss a game for the first time, "her 8th grade year i was not able to attend any of her games. That broke my heart because i had been to every single one of her games."
Trinity Davis says she had to get used to her mom not being in the stands, "that was rough because it was just the three of us. You get used to it because you know it's her job and you have to accept it but it's tough sometimes."
But through all the moves, and her mom being away from home, Trinity says playing sports has made all the difference. From keeping her busy with summer practices, to giving her teammates to talk to on the first day of school. And she says she wouldn't change a thing. "I wouldn't change anything because each place has made me become the person that i am and it's made me closer to my parents and I've just been able to experience the world that not a lot of people get a chance to. I wouldn't chance that for the world."
