The MSU Men's and Women's basketball teams are top seeds at this years lone star conference tournament.  Tobin Mcduff is in Allen with the mustangs to follow the mustangs through what hopefully will be a pair of tournament titles.
The Midwestern State men have won three of the last four lone star conference tournaments, and enter this years tournament as the top seed.
The Midwestern state women are also top seeds, a position a bit unfamiliar as they were knocked out in the first round of last years tourney, finishing what was the programs best season since 2003.
This year, head coach Noel Johnson says nothing less than an LSC title will satisfy them, "they have that drive and desire to advance in the tournament. And definitely being the number one seed has helped these kids to build confidence."
Ashley Rush says that confidence also comes from a strong fan base, and the success of the men's program, "we'll have a great supporting cast. It is pride because we're both number one right now." And Kirsti Degelia adds, "we can have more fans at the games because we're playing back-to-back instead of fans having to seperate."
And the MSU head coach Nelson Haggerty say the women's success serves as inspiration for them to succeed as well, "even on Sunday when the girls didn't play before us it was a lot different. We're going to draw energy from our girls and that's something we've done all season long."  Assistant coach Tres Sigler agrees, "I hope they win by 10, 15 or 20 and get our guys excited so we can go do the same thing."
In the past four seasons the men have won their opening round tournament game by an average of 17 points, but they'd enjoy a win like that much more if it were preceded by the women posting a win too.
