Stores Low on Winter Weather Supplies

Below-freezing temperatures and snow have hit Texoma again and store shelves are taking a hit too as customers stock up on the essentials.
Across Texoma, stores are running low on winter weather supplies.

Amanda Allbee, Sutherland's assistant manager, says, "All our firewood, because that all sold out, and then all the little space heaters that [were] really popular. That's why we're out of those, too. And we're out of the wall mount gas heaters as well."

The Wichita Falls Sutherland's location still has kerosene in stock, which employees say has been really popular.

"As far as pinion wood and stuff like that goes, they're saying we're the last people in town who have it, and ice melt as well," Allbee says.

But that doesn't necessarily mean sales have increased.

"It's kind of a drop because people don't want to get out in the cold, so it's only people coming for those things that they need," Allbee says. "They're not getting all the other stuff that they would normally get."

She says her store will continue to stock up on items in preparation of the next winter storm.

Allbee says Sutherland's ordered more space heaters than last year yet still sold out.
