A woman barricades herself in her home and threatens to harm herself.

Wichita Falls police had their hands busy on Monday afternoon dealing with a barricaded suspect near the intersection of Allen and Circle Drive.

Wichita Falls police and SWAT were called out to a home in the 2100 Block of Richmond Drive around 12:45 p.m.

WFPD Public Information Officer Brandi Banda says officers responded to the residence to check welfare on a female.

Officers were advised the woman had unknown weapons inside the home.
Banda says when the woman refused to answer the door and SWAT was called out the scene following protocol.

Banda says SWAT safely entered the home around 3:30 p.m. with no further incidents and took the woman into custody.

She says no nearby homes were evacuated.

"A code red goes out to the neighbors, to the residents," Banda says. "If anyone is in danger in the area that an incident is happening, they make sure to evacuate that area. No neighbors or the neighborhood was not in danger at this point."

Banda says the woman was taken to the North Texas State Hospital for an evaluation.
