Tasty Treat Makes an Appearance for a Cause

Over 1,600 Western Burgers were sold, with proceeds going directly back to the community.
To the uneducated it may look at a hot roll filled with hamburger meat, but Texomans know this tasty treat as the Western Burger.

Its been more than 40 years since the late Emaline Anderson was credited with introducing this delicacy to Wichita Falls, but even today people flock to the Wichita Falls High School cafeteria to get their hands on the baked goodness of a Western Burger.

The event isn't just about bringing great food to the people, but to give back to those who help the community on a daily basis.

"We give back to our community by either way of Easter baskets for kids in our community, Christmas baskets. We have given to Childrens Miracle Network. We have given to the Backpack, where the food goes home for the weekend," said Kathy Bolton, the Child Nutrition Director for WFISD.

Bolton says they prepared 1.654 Western Burgers for the event.

A Western Burger is of course hamburger meat, cheese, onions, and seasonings wrapped in a hot, buttery roll.
