Team Of The Week, April 3rd, 2014: Wichita Falls Coyotes Boys Soccer

For the second straight year, the Wichita Falls Coyotes boys soccer team won an area title last week. Our team of the week picked up the win in dramatic fashion.
Last Friday's area playoff game between Wichita Falls and Denton Guyer was a slug fest on the Memorial Stadium pitch.
Both teams had several chances to break through and get a goal.
But with 8 minutes to go in the second half, the Yotes made magic happen.
On a corner kick, Daniel Tays lined up and booted the ball near the goal for Jorge Martinez.
Talk about using your head, that's what Martinez did to score what proved to be the game winner as Old High shut out Guyer 1-0.
Wichita Falls Senior Defender Jorge Martinez: "We finally got it down the field and actually when I was going up for the corner kick and it was a great service from Tays it was there and I ran in it was great timing to be there and I found the back of the net."
Wichita Falls Senior Forward Daniel Tays:"We practice corner kicks all of the time before a game and I always look to find Jorge. Jorge is pretty tall. He is a good man to find in the middle. I just looked up and it is a good thing I found Jorge. So he can finish off his goal."
Wichita Falls Patrick McCauley Head Boys Soccer Coach:"Daniel Tays played the corner. Jorge the same thing. He ran straight up the middle. Out jumped everybody. And hit a powerful header that the keeper couldn't get too and actually the keeper made a mistake and came out to get the ball and we capitalized on it. We were at the right place at the right time."
By the Coyotes working on corner kicks before the game and during practice it paid big dividends in their playoff win.
McCauley:"It is important for the guys to know where the ball is being played. Where to position themselves and in the game it is just a matter of execution and a matter of getting there. And Jorge did that for us.
And it worked out.
