Teen Court is a voluntary program which helps teenage offenders take responsibility for their behavior through involvement in the judicial process and work in the community.
This worthwhile program received a financial boost Wednesday night thanks to Elks Lodge 1105 who presented a check to the Wichita County Teen Court. Elks members raised money for what they call their Sweetheart fund all year long. The money then goes back into the community to help children. Wednesday night, $3,7000 was donated to the Teen Court.
"Most of us here know what the elks are about, and that's what drives us here. We all work all year to do something like this and its rewarding knowing that we can help somebody, some child in our community that needs our assistance," said Gayla Scoughton, Sweetheart of Elks Lodge 1105.
The money will be used to help the Wichita County Teen Court start new programs.
