Texas Students Improve Some STAAR Test Results

Texas students made strong improvements in their end of course STAAR tests in Biology and Algebra.
Texas students made strong improvements in their end of course STAAR tests in Biology and Algebra, improving scores on average of 6% across the state.

Texas students are required to pass five end of course exams to receive a diploma. In addition to Algebra and Biology, they are also tested in English and U.S. History.

In Biology, 93% of students passed compared to 87% the previous school year. In Algebra I 86% passed compared to 82% the previous year.

However students did not perform so well in English I and II, with a 72% passing rate in English I and 73% in English II.

Students who did not pass the end of course exams have another chance to retake tests in July.
