Texoma Native to Promote Positive Message Through 1200 Mile Walk

Lance Adkins plans to walk from Vernon to San Diego.
A Texoma native's about to take some steps...millions of steps.

Twenty-six year-old Lance Adkins says he's "fading west" and walking 12-hundred miles from Vernon to Moonlight Beach in San Diego starting Monday.

And he's going to do that all on foot.

No hotels, no cars, and no money.

Lance says he'll only eat and drink what he can carry along the way.

It's all to promote a positive message.

"I am walking 1200 miles from Texas to California to promote love, forgiveness, and redemption," he says. "I had this wonderful life and this great wife and I kind of just went way out in left field and made some awful decisions and did some things that regrettably I can't undo."

So, he's hitting the road on foot, walking from Vernon to San Diego.

He says it's a challenge inspired by his faith.

"It's symbolic to me because of what Jesus did in the Bible. He walked everywhere and he carried your weight to the cross."

Lance says the journey will symbolize putting his mistakes behind him and at the same time, he hopes others will submit their worries, their fears, and their mistakes on his facebook page.

"I want them to share their testimony and share what they're going through."

Lance says that's so he'll be able to think about all of them and symbolically conquer them along the way.

He hopes to reach San Diego on Nov. 4.
