The Bryants are Serving Up the Spirit of Texoma

<br>For 25 years now the Bryants and many volunteers have served the folks of Vernon Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.

THIS HOLIDAY SEASON MARKS THE 25TH YEAR A VERNON COUPLE AND SOME DEDICATED  VOLUNTEERS HAVE GIVEN UP THEIR TIME ON THE HOLIDAYS TO MAKE SURE  THE  TRADITION OF THE FREE COMMUNITY   MEALS AT THANKSGIVING AND CHRISTMAS CONTINUES.
SO FOR SERVING UP SOUTHERN HOSPITALITY AT ITS BEST WE HONOR PAT AND GLENNA BRYANT AS THIS MONTH'S SPIRIT OF TEXOMA AWARD WINNERS.
IN THE WILBARGER AUDITORIUM THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING POTS ARE STEAMING AND IT'S ALL HANDS ON DECK FOR THE BIG DAY.

"We can't stop now it is a, it is just one of those things that needs to be done."

PAT AND GLENNA BRYANT HAVE BEEN GETTING THAT BIG THING DONE EVERY YEAR FOR A QUARTER CENTURY NOW.

"Okay do we have any seasoning in this yet?"

"Can we put some more bread in there?"

BEGINING WITH THE PREP TIME IN THE KITCHEN, TO SERVING THE COMMUNITY MEAL IN THE AUDITORIUM AND  ALL THE HOME DELIVERIES,  IT TAKES AROUND 100 VOLUNTEERS UNTOLD HOURS TO PUT IT ALL TOGEHTER ON BOTH HOLIDAYS.

"We have had so many last year the city wanted a list of names after we just completed Thanksgiving and I said there is no way.  I would overlook someone, because some of them we don't even know their names they just come and deliver a route and they have their children with them possibly and we see them the next year."

AND IT'S BEEN THAT WAY SINCE THE FIRST YEAR...

"We had helpers come out of the woodwork, it was unbelievable."

MANY OF THE VOLUNTEERS ARE PEOPLE WHO ENJOYED THE FEASTS IN YEARS PAST, AND WANT TO GIVE BACK OR JUST WANT TO SHARE THEIR GOOD FORTUNE WITH THE LESS FORTUNATE...THE SAME THING THAT MOTIVATED THE BRYANT'S  TO GET BUSY COOKING YEARS AGO.

"Glenna and I had an exceptionally good year in business and we thought we should share our benefits with the community."

ITS NOT JUST THE GOOD FOOD THAT DRAWS HUNDREDS TO THE FEAST YEAR AFTER YEAR...HERE YOU'LL ALSO FIND HEARTY PORTIONS OF GOOD FELLOWSHIP.

"I think they enjoy the fellowship, some may have family and their family, like some of our older people, they may wait dinner for them til the evening, because they insist on coming here to eat with us."

AND THANKS TO THEIR TIME SPENT HERE...

"And I need the pepper..."

900 FOLKS IN VERNON ENJOYED A HOME COOKED MEAL ON THANKSGIVING DAY.

"You guys really get into this, huh?"

AND ALL THESE VOLUNTEERS BARELY HAVE TIME TO GET RESTED BEFORE THEY ARE BACK IN THE KITCHEN GETTING THE CHRISTMAS MEAL READY....
THE BRYANTS AND THE FOLKS OF VERNON HAVE THE RIGHT RECIPE WHEN IT COMES TO SERVING OTHERS THE SPIRIT OF TEXOMA.

"I cried when she called, but now I am laughing"
THE BRYANTS WILL ALSO BE HOSTING CHRISTMAS DINNER FOR THE COMMUNITY ON DECEMBER 25TH.
OWENS AND BRUMLEY FUNERAL HOMES CONGRATULATE THE BRYANTS FOR MANY YEARS OF SERIVCE TO OTHERS.
