Hundreds of runners hit the pavement in Wichita Falls Saturday morning, some in hopes of qualifying for the Boston Marathon.

The Duel gives athletes a chance to run a marathon, half marathon or 10k.

It's an annual athletic competition that usually spans two days, but this year organizers condensed it into one day of events.

Runners could choose from running on the Wee-Chi-Tah Trail or take a paved route.

Medals were awarded as runners crossed the finish line.

One runner said The Duel was a great first 10k.

“I'm turning 50, what better time to try and do something like this, so yea fun challenge, great event as always the events in Wichita Falls are always excellent,” says Marc Beauchamp.

Saturday's marathon race was also a Boston qualifier.

Three athletes were able to achieve a time to earn a spot at the Boston Marathon.

And a big congratulations too, to our own Lindsey Wopshall, who ran the half marathon.
