The Kids' Doctor- Underage Drinking

<p class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0in; widows: 0; orphans: 0"><font face="Arial, sans-serif"><font size="2"><br>With the school year wrapping up and prom and graduation just around the corner, many parents have a growing concern about the risk of underage drinking.</font></font></p>

Dr. Sue
with the Kids' Doctor received an email from a dad who was concerned his son is drinking.

Early use of alcohol can draw teens into a host of problems and aggravate existing ones. Kids who are depressed and experience anxiety and feel stressed are more likely to use alcohol to self-medicate their problems.

Each year, nearly 5000 people under the age of 21 die as a result of underage drinking.

As parents we know alcohol is widely available and our kids are clever at finding ways to to get their hands on it. As prom and graduation season approaches, talk to your kids and don't turn a blind eye. We're making it too easy for teens to get away with underage drinking. Start today and lock your liquor cabinet. Send a clear message to your kids that underage drinking will not be tolerated in your house.
