The Legacy of Jeff Scott Continues in Henrietta

The tournament brings in coed softball teams from all over Texas.
A new chapter in the legacy of a Henrietta man took shape today with the inaugural Jeff Scott Memorial Softball Tournament.

Jeff Scott passed away November 2nd of last year due to brain cancer, he was 45-years-old.

Teams from all over taxes came together at Hapgood field to compete for for a trophy bearing a picture of Jeff.

Friends and family say while they always wanted to carry on Jeff’s name, the support of Henrietta has helped tremendously.

"I didn't anticipate everybody supporting it like they have and everybody caring and coming together. It's been really amazing. I'm kind of dumbfounded at the support everybody has shown,” said Kevin Barnes, Jeff's brother.

Family friend Nancy McClain said, "A lot of these people we went to school with, and some of their children are now playing on the teams. So you see it from generation to generation."

All proceeds are donated to brain cancer research as well as providing one scholarship to a Henrietta high school senior each year.
