A Clay County man, who is hospitalized after a train struck his vehicle this weekend, remains in serious but stable condition at United Regional.
According to relatives, 56-year old Stephen Benham underwent surgery a few hours ago to repair a broken ankle.
However, doctors must still address Behnam's fractured sternum, punctured lung, as well as several fractured vertebrae and ribs.
Benham received those injures Saturday night at the intersection of Highway 287 and Anderson Road in Clay County.
DPS troopers say he parked his truck on set of railroad tracks and hooked a chain to a car that was stuck on another set of tracks to pull it to safety.
But before he could close his vehicle door, relatives tell us a train struck the passenger side of Benham's truck... throwing him from the vehicle.
