Two companies have signed a contract to set up shop in the AT&T Call Center building on Kell Boulevard.
Both companies are currently hiring and both plan to offer top pay.
Several hundred people will soon call this AT&T Call Center their new place of employment.
Two companies will operate out of the second floor and bring 400 jobs to town over the next three years.
"This has the potential to be a boom for the Wichita Falls area," says Bill Scantlin, Business Service Manager at Workforce Solutions of North Texas.
Big... because many new jobs over the past few years have been in the food and retail industries, which typically pay minimum wage or a little more.
But, the companies that will occupy this building plan to shell out some big bucks.
Twenty dollars an hour. That's how much both companies are willing to pay once the they step up shop here to make sure they get the best applicants. In case you're wondering, that adds up to $160 dollars a day... and more than $41 thousand a year.
We learned the companies are Metasys Technologies and Collabera.
Both want applicants who are the cream of the crop.
"They're gonna be looking for people who are highly proficient in being able to operate a computer. They're gonna be looking for people with previous call center experience, help desk trouble shooting, that kind of stuff," explains Scantlin.
According to Workforce Solution officials, Metasys Technologies is currently looking to hire 144 network control specialists, while Collebra plans to hire 25 technical support/help desk specialists.
Both companies plan to reach 200 employees by the end of their three year contract.
However, that contract could be extended at a later date.
