Unemployment Rate for Most of Texoma Climbs Slightly

The unemployment rate climbed slightly last month for Wichita Falls and most of Texoma according to the jobs report released by the Texas Workforce Commission.
The unemployment rate climbed slightly last month for Wichita Falls and most of Texoma according to the jobs report released by the Texas Workforce Commission.

The jobless rate in Wichita Falls rose from 5.7% in January to 5.8% last month. A year ago the rate was 6.5%.

The rate for the three county metro region of Wichita, Clay and Archer counties also rose a tenth of a percent last month, from 5.4% to 5.5%.

Cottle County had the highest rate in Texoma, and the only jobless rate over 6%. The lowest rate is in Jack County, with 3.5% for February.

The jobless rate for the entire state came in at 5.9% in February compared to 6.6% a year ago.

Midland and Odessa have the lowest rates in the state, at 3 and 3.7% respectively.

The Workforce Commission says the state saw 37,600 jobs added in February, for a total growth of 314,200 jobs this year.
