Update: Hit and Run Sends Pedestrian to Hospital

Wichita Falls police said a late Tuesday night hit and run sent one man to the hospital.

Update at 11:46 p.m.: A Wichita Falls man is flown to a Fort Worth hospital after police say he was run over by car.

It happened Monday  night around 10:30 on the 1700 block of 7th street. Police say 44-year-old Thompson Lee Asbury was found lying in the road, and has visible tire tracks on his body.

Police believe he'd been hit by a car, and the driver left the scene.

He was taken to United Regional before being taken by medical helicopter to a trauma center in Fort Worth. Hospital officials say they are unable to release information on his condition.

According to news archives, Asbury was shot twice in the chest 11 years ago, and  left permanently disabled. In 2009, he was the victim of an attack. Charges were filed against the assailant for assaulting a disabled person. He was also due in court this week for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and driving while intoxicated.

Police are still looking for the driver in last night's incident. If you have any information, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers 322-9888.
