Officials at United Regional Hospital say changes to the Wichita Falls VA Medical Clinic will make its services more efficient. This, after patients complained in October about the care they were receiving.
As we reported in October, Gary Morris, a VA Clinic patient, said the clinic canceled numerous appointments. Then asked him to reschedule them himself. He said he panicked because he was low on his PTSD medication and was told by doctors never to go without it.
Since then, changes to the clinic have been made. United Regional says the clinic is better for it now.
“It certainly wasn't what we were driving towards necessarily in the fall but I think what we were really doing in the fall was laying down some of the ground work for this potential transition,” said Phyllis Cowling, the United Regional President.
The Wichita Falls VA Clinic's practices are now more inline with the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. And Gary Morris says he's seen the difference.
“It is orderly, it is clean, it is organized. They visit with you promptly to see why you are there and what you are scheduled for,” said Gary Morris.
A Patient Aligned Care Team, or "pact" team has been implemented, which United Regional says will make communication easier for patients.
