Durham School Services are scrambling to get half a dozen buses repaired before school starts after vandals did some hefty damage.

Of the six buses vandalized, Durham School Services officials say four had numerous windows broken and two had the front windshields so smashed-- they can't be driven.

The damage is shattering and Durham School Service officials say a Wichita Falls ISD employee discovered it just before 6 a.m. That employee saw numerous broken and shattered windows on six buses.

And although the news came around dawn, Durham officials believe the damage was done overnight.

"They worked at it.  They had large bricks. They had a golf club that they used and used that golf club to hit it repeatedly to cause the breakage," says Bryan Gipson, general manager of Durham School Services.

And Bryan Gipson says what the vandals left behind could help police identify them.

"They fingerprinted some items that were left behind like a golf club.  They fingerprinted doors and windows.  Some of the rocks.  They're doing their best to help up find out who did this," says Gipson.

While it's not yet proven, Gipson says kids are suspected to be the culprits.

Gipson says this isn't the first time this bus barn has actually be targeted by vandals, but he says this is the first time this much damage has been caused.

Damage was also caused to a backhoe owned by Wichita Falls ISD. So while police work to find the vandals, Durham employees will work to clean the glass from inside the buses.

"We'll use a vacuum and a broom and we'll just be really thorough with it and make sure that we test is before students get on board so they don't get cut," adds Gipson.

Gipson says the bus barn does not have cameras but he expects that to change very soon. And he says Durham plans to offer a $500 reward to anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the people responsible.
