Veterans Get Special Sendoff for Honor Flight Trip

Some Wichita Falls students and American Legion Riders provided a special sendoff today for two members of the greatest generation.
Some Wichita Falls students and American Legion Riders provided a special sendoff Thursday for two members of the greatest generation.

The two World War II veterans got a surprise salute Thursday afternoon at Jefferson Elementary before heading out for their honor flight trip to Washington D.C. Students made signs and sang songs for the vets.

And while both are, no doubt, excited about their all-expense-paid trip to see the National World War II Memorial, James Magers and Edmund Frodyma says they are just as ecstatic with the tribute. And one of the vets says he is enjoying a double surprise.

"It's a wonderful surprise, I tell you.  These kids are good.  These kids appreciate us and I'm going to Washington D.C. to see my granddaughter too," says Edmund Frodyma, a World War II veteran.

Local law enforcement officials and American Legion Riders Post 202 escorted the veterans from the school. Friday, they will fly from Dallas to Washington D.C and return this weekend.
