A major water main break floods a Wichita Falls shopping center, and shut down most businesses for the day.

It is unclear when the main broke flooding the Parker Square parking lot but workers on scene say they think it started overnight.

Water gushed through the parking lot for hours while workers were digging to try to turn off the water.

Even though the water main has been fixed, it took crews all day to repair it, and caused businesses in the area to close for the day because they didn't have access to water.

“When I came to open the salon this morning around 8:30 I immediately saw all the water, it looked like a river out here so I knew pretty much a water line had burst I just didn't know where,” says Tangles Employee Denna Custis.

Public Works Director Russell Schreiber says it's hard to know why the water main broke, but they're almost certain the single digit temperatures caused it.
