WF Chamber President Speaks Out on Failed Bond

Now that the WFISD school bond has failed, the chamber of commerce is speaking out.
Now that the WFISD school bond has failed, the chamber of commerce is speaking out.

Chamber officials say the end of the election does not mean the end of improvements to schools.

Chamber President Henry Florsheim says that everyone for or against the bond could agree on one thing: that WFISD schools need to be improved.

He feels they just differed on how to get those improvements done.

He does say the chamber continues to be invested in improving schools because a good education system translates into bringing more businesses to the area.

“Every single time we bring someone to town to relocate, to move business here, they want to see our school. So they need to know what shape our facilities are in, how much are we investigating in education and it's hard for them to view curriculum but it's really easy for them to view facilities,” says Florsheim.

The chamber is starting an education committee that will throw around ideas on how to make improvements in the district.

The WFISD bond issue was easily defeated by a 73% to 27% margin. It did not pass in any of the voting boxes in the election.
