There were no engine to start but dozens of Wichita Falls city employees did spin their wheels in a stiff annual competition Thursday.

Different city departments tricked their tricycles and competed in the 8th Annual Nastrike Wichita Willie Cup Championship, which was held at the city's Central Services Complex.

Contestants spun their wheels, and even collided with the concrete, to be the first to cross the finish line.

And while this event was a lot of fun coordinators say it's also a holiday fundraiser.

"Every year we raise about $3,000 to $3,500 to provide Christmas for about 50 families in town.  We provide them Christmas dinner, toys and some clothes and even some bicycles to some of the kiddos," says Mark Beauchamp, a city employee who emceed the event.

Beauchamp says this year's event raised just over $3,000.

He also says the fire department was the overall winner and the engineering department won for the most tricked out trike.
