And Wichita Falls city councilors took an important step today in moving forward with the Downtown Travel Center project .... which has an estimated price tag of four point two million dollars.
At staff's recommendation, the city entered into an agreement with Anthony Inman Construction.
The plan is for the facility to be located in the 300 block of Scott ... It's set to be a transportation hub for FallsRide, Greyhound, Jefferson Lines, and others.
Transportation Director John Burrus says half the project is already funded thanks to surplus federal funding.
"We've been good stewards with that money and we've already got half the project budgeted just thorugh those savings. So what we're trying to do right now is get the general contractor on board to assist with further development of the design plans."
Burrus says the city should know around the first of May whether TxDOT grants and other funding will come through.
Construction could begin as early as September.
