A city department encouraging others to care enough to wear pink says they broke a record during their breast cancer campaign.

Wichita Falls Firefighters sold pink t-shirts throughout the month of October for local breast cancer non-profit chapters.

They say they sold 3,300 t-shirts, raising $20,000.

“Throughout the month of October we were tallying how many shirts we had sold and we just couldn't keep up and it was a really good feeling to sell them as soon as they hit the shelves,” said Firefighter Jose Scarbrough.

Friday, Wichita Falls Susan G. Komen and Wichita Falls American Cancer Society both received $10,000 from the firefighters campaign.

Throughout the five years of their annual campaign they've raised about $70,000.
