WFISD Officials Answer Questions During Bond Town Hall

The Wichita Falls Independent School District wants to make sure voters know everything they need to know about their bond proposal before heading to the polls next month.
The Wichita Falls Independent School District wants to make sure voters know everything they need to know about their bond proposal before heading to the polls next month.

On Monday, WFISD officials hosted their first of three informational town hall meetings inside of Old High's auditorium.

Early voting starts in three weeks and WFISD Superintendent Dr. John Frossard says the meetings are not to advocate in favor of the bond but in an effort to make sure all their questions and concerns are answered.

The town hall started with a video presentation recapping all the steps taken to get to the current bond proposal.

Frossard and WFISD School Board President Kevin Goldstein answered questions from the public ranging from how the drought will affect the bond to changes planned to the choice program, busing routes and the school's extracurricular activities if the bond passes.

Voters like Teresa Browning say they wish more people would make it a priority to get all their questions answered.

"Some people are thinking 65 and older, their taxes are going to go up," Browning says. "That's not true and they think, if I vote no because I like this plan; well everyone isn't going to be able to get their wishes completely 100% so we need to compromise for our kids in the future."

Voters will have two more chances to attend the town hall meetings.

Meetings will be held on Monday, April 14 and Tuesday, April 15 at 6 p.m.

As a reminder, the deadline to register to vote in the May election is on Thursday.

Early voting begins on April 28 and ends on May 6.
Election Day will be Saturday, May 10.
