WFPD Warns of Rise in Counterfeit Currency Usage

Detectives are asking area business representatives to pay close attention to the cash they get from customers.
Financial crimes detectives in Wichita Falls say there's an increase in the amount of counterfeit cash that's being used in the city.

Over the past two months, authorities say they've found more and more of those fake bills, mostly in the $10, $20, and $100 denominations.

That's prompting them to warn local businesses and their employees to pay close attention to the money they handle.

If you do come across fake bills, police ask that you take the bills. Then report the crime and give the bills to the officer that arrives on scene.

They also ask that you do your best to get a description of the person that tried to use the bills and the vehicle the suspect leaves in.
