It has been a beautiful day in Texoma and people across the area were out enjoying the weather.

The nice weather made it the perfect day for Wichita Falls to hold their first circle trail tour.

Cyclists of all ages hit the Wichita Falls Circle Trail that goes from Lucy Park to Lake Wichita Park Saturday to enjoy the nice weather and learn more about what Wichita Falls has to offer.

“The trail is the keystone, if you will, of making Wichita Falls a bike friendly community,” says  Traffic Superintendent Mark Beauchamp

Organizers say the goal of the tour was to attract new people out to the trail.

“Riding's a good healthy activity, it's something basically everyone can do and what better day to enjoy a spring day then to come out and ride a bike,” says Beauchamp.

And it was a chance to remind veterans why it's a great place to ride.

“This is the first time this year, so it's a nice easy ride and i'm enjoying it, see a lot of other bikers out so it's been fun,” says Arthur Sanchez.

Even though it's called the circle trail it's not quite complete, three sections still need to be finished.

“Section on Lake Shore Drive between Lake Wichita Park and Barnett, a section from Barnett to Seymour Highway is missing, we call that the Burlington Northern section and also the Wichita Bluff section which will probably be the next one built,” says Beauchamp.

Beauchamp says the city is still waiting on the property rights and funding to complete those projects, but hopes it can get done in the next few years so the city can earn their bike friendly community designation.

To become designated a bike friendly community the city also needs to pass a three feet passing lane ordinance, and put up way finding signs.
