Whitey Bulger Sentenced to Two Terms Plus Five Years

Whitey Bulger, the ruthless gangster who ran the South Boston underworld and then spent 16 years on the run, was sentenced Thursday to two life terms plus five years.
(NBC News) Former mob boss James "Whitey" Bulger will spend the rest of his life behind bars.

A judge sentenced Bulger to two consecutive life terms plus five years Thursday in a Boston, Massachusetts courtroom for his involvement in 11 murders.

The 84-year-old Bulger was convicted on a long list of charges in August after spending more than 16 years as a fugitive.

Bulger was also ordered to pay $25 million in fines and another $20 million in restitution to the families of his victims.
