Wichita Falls and Red Cross Prepping for Winter Weather

The winter weather is causing Wichita Falls officials to make some changes.
The winter weather is causing Wichita Falls officials to make some changes.

Barwise Junior High which is one of the possible shelters red cross could set up if roads were closed and people passing through needed a place to stay.

The Red Cross has 15 volunteers on stand by in case the weather did get worse and meals or blankets need to be handed out.

Additional police department personnel are also on stand by to help with accidents and assist with rescues if necessary and two swat vehicles are ready to assist in rescue and transport if needed.

Street crews have plows ready to go and have priority roads mapped out.

City crews who are out in the elements can stop by any open fire station to get warm and additional fire personnel are on stand by as well.

The Fallsride Sheppard Express bus for Sheppard Air Force Base is not running.

And TxDOT workers are still working 24 hours a day on 12 hour rotations and have been laying Freezegaurd.
