A Texas native is now the new commander of the Salvation Army in Wichita Falls.
A Texas native is now the new commander of the Salvation Army in Wichita Falls. Sgt. David Swyers comes to the city from from Columbus, Georgia.

He's a third generation Salvation Army Commander who is eager to improve the Wichita Falls chapter. And he plans to start with a questionnaire to board members.

"Do we provide a safe haven for men who need a place to spent the night.  Are we providing food to those that are hungry.  Are we meeting the spiritual needs for those that are coming in for that, as well.  So, we want to evaluate. Fix the areas that need fixing and continue to move forward with the area that are working well," says Sgt. Swyers.

Sgt. Swyers replaces Capt. Gregory Shannon. Shannon resigned in early July to become CEO of the North Texas Area United Way.
