Wichita Falls Stage 2 Water Restrictions - Updated

<br>Tougher water restrictions in Wichita Falls&nbsp;to be enforced beginning Monday, June 11th.
Wichita Falls is going in to Stage Two Water Restrictions starting next Monday, June 11th.  The action was decided Tuesday morning at the City Council meeting. The City will move to Stage Two Restrictions since lake levels are expected to dropped below 50 percent by that time.
So starting June 11th, residents will only be allowed to water one day a week using a sprinkler system and day you can water is determined by where you live.
The city suggests using soaker hoses and bubblers to keep trees and gardens watered. Officials will be patrolling day or night to make sure the rules are being followed.
.
Under stage 2 water restrictions residents are not to:
- Run outside irrigation systems including sprinklers, automatic sprinkler systems and unattended water hoses except on the day of the week permitted for an area as identified on the water rationing zone map.
- Run any type of outside watering on any day of the week between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., except as authorized by subsection (d)(1) of the Conservation Ordinance.
- Wash any motor vehicle at any location other than a commercial car wash, car dealership, detail shop of automotive shop.
- Conduct fund raising car washes during the time of the drought warning.
- Wash sidewalks, driveways or concrete slabs unless an immediate health of safety risk present.

The City will enforce the new restrictions 24 hours a day seven days a week utilizing several departments and divisions. The fine for a first offense is $25.00, second offense up to $500.00 and a third offense up to $1000.00. Citizens can assist with adherence to the new restrictions by contacting the Water Restrictions Hotline at 761-7477 if they witness watering taking place that is restricted by City ordinance. Callers DO NOT have to identify themselves. Simply provide an address and city crews can investigate the location. The hotline number is answered Monday through Friday from 8:am to 5:pm. The after-hours and weekend number for reporting violations is 720-5000.
