A 20-year-old woman is charged with assault of a public servant, among other charges, for allegedly slapping Wichita County Sheriff David Duke, who responded to a call that the woman was driving while intoxicated. In addition to the assault charge, Cassidy Beer is also charged with DWI and failure to stop and render aid.

An arrest affidavit states deputies heard a vehicle collision and then saw a Tahoe leave the scene and run a red light. Deputies then pulled that vehicle over and they say they smelled a strong odor of alcohol.

While Beer was undergoing a DWI test, authorities say they were talking with her passenger who was becoming belligerent.

As Sheriff Duke and other deputies were attempting to arrest him for public intoxication, they say Beer approached Sheriff Duke and slapped him in the face.

She's out of jail on nearly $8,000 in bonds.
