YMCA'S 2014 Soap Box Derby Takes Place on Saturday

The YMCA hosted it's annual soap box derby in downtown Wichita Falls on Saturday and families from all over Wichita Falls rolled out for the family fun event.
Kids of all ages in Wichita Falls raced to the finish line on Saturday in the YMCA's 2014 Soap Box Derby.

The race kicked off with a little friendly competition between KFDX's own Ann Arnold and Gwyn Bevel, and Gwyn finished for the win.

This is the sixth year that the YMCA hosted this event.

Organizers say it's a family fun event and they enjoy putting it together mainly for the kids.

"It's just one of the things that the YMCA does to add joy to kid's lives to add quality to our community here in Wichita Falls we're committed to make our community stronger and this is just one more way to give kids a thrill," YMCA Mission Advancement Director Noel Filer says.

Filer says the YMCA used to host this event for years. It was brought back in 2009 and is now a yearly event in the community that brings in families from all over Wichita Falls
