Zales Building Renovations Continue; Hope for Fall 2015 Opening

A historic building in downtown Wichita Falls should be reopened this time next year.

Crews have been working on the Zales Building since the spring and organizers say construction is right on track.

Right now part of the ceiling is being remolded.

And on the outside of the building, the plaster has been removed to expose the original architectural work from the 1930's.

Downtown Proud is working on recruiting businesses to fill up the historic space and they hope to find a restaurant to offer a unique experience.

“One of the things is a main anchor bigger restaurant, a restaurant, restaurant, something different than the staples, something different than the steak house, something different than Hargrove's, to give people options to bring more people down here,” says Cynthia Laney with Downtown Proud.

Laney says she hopes the building will be filled up and ready to open next September.
