Zero Visibility Leads to Deadly Accident Near Lubbock

High winds and near zero visibility are reportedly to blame for a deadly accident around 1 this afternoon on Interstate 27 between Amarillo and Lubbock.

High winds and near zero visibility are reportedly to blame for a deadly accident around 1 this afternoon on Interstate 27 between Amarillo and Lubbock. 

Troopers say one person is dead and wreckage stretched for at least a mile. Overall there were as many as 7 separate accidents on Interstate 27 between New Deal and Abernathy 10 miles north of Lubbock. 

23 vehicles were involved including 2 semi tractor trailers. One of the semi's was involved in a fatal accident in which a vehicle ran into the back of the semi and the driver of the vehicle died on the scene. 17 people suffered moderate to minor injuries.
